The ingredients needed to make Basa Fish Fry:
- Take 7 Pieces Basa Fish Fillet
- Make ready 3-4 Whole Red Kashmiri Chillies
- Make ready 2-3 Cloves Garlic
- Take 1 tbsp White Vinegar
- Get 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- Make ready as needed Few Peppercorns (Whole)
- Prepare 1/4 tsp Ajwain
- Get 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Get 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- Get to taste Salt
To cook the fish, lightly coat it in flour and shallow fry. Sauté for a minute or two till the aroma and flavour blend. Basa fish is sometimes sold as River Cobbler or Catfish. It is a mild white fish much like cod or haddock.
Instructions to make Basa Fish Fry:
- Wash the fish nicely.
- In a large mixing bowl add fish, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and keep aside.
- In a blender, add red chillies, garlic, peppercorns, ajwain, white vinegar, lemon juice and olive oil and grind to a smooth paste.
- Add the paste to the fish and coat it nicely. Marinate it for few hours or overnight.
- In a frying pan, heat oil. When the oil is hot, gently place the fish in the pan and fry on both sides till the fish is cooked. Part of the fish was pan fried. See photo below.
- And part was fried in Air Fryer. Crispy from outside and tender and juicy inside. See photo below.
- Serve hot with onion rings and lemon.
It's a lot cheaper as well. Marinate fish with lemon, salt and garlic salt for an hour beat the egg and add oregano and little salt. Season the flour and use to coat the basa fillets, then add them to the pan. With a good fish, well seasoned and crispy skin, I don't need a sauce.but I've added a couple in the notes just in case! 🙂 We have made this recipe several times using whatever fish fillet has been on sale (haddock, pollack, etc.) and it has been wonderful. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside.
