Instructions to make Chana Masala Recipe:
  1. Rinse dried chanathoroughly and soak for 8 hrs in water. Drain the water and add the chanainto the pressure cooker along with 1 chopped onion 1 clove 1 small cinnamon stick, 1 cardamom and 1 cup water.Pressure cook the channa
  2. Until soft for 5 to 6 whistles. Meanwhile heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and roast all the khada masala listed above along with grated coconut, chopped onion, red chilli and coriander seeds till golden brown.
  3. Grind the roasted masala in a mixer grinder to a fine paste
  4. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a kadai or pan and add bay leaf and cumin seeds let it splutter. Now add grounded masala and sauté for min on a medium flame.
  5. Now add chopped tomato and cook. Into this goes turmeric powder, red chilli powder. Stir fry the masala for further some mins or till the masala starts separating the oil.
  6. Now add boiled chanaand coat with the masala. Add water according to the desired consistency along with aamchur and salt.
  7. Stir the gravy and cook for another 5 mins on a medium flame. Once the gravy starts boiling off the gas and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
