- Get 1 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
- Take 40 g salted butter
- Get 1 kg braising steak, cut into cubes

- Take 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Prepare 2 small red chilli's (optional)
Instructions to make Beef Casserole:
- In a large pot heat the olive oil and half of the butter over a high heat. When hot brown the beef in batches for approximately 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon remove the beef when its browned and set aside.
- Over a low heat melt the rest of the butter in the same pot. Add the celery, potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and bay leaves. Cook stirring for 5 minutes until the onions have softened.
- Add the flour and tomato puree. Stir and cook for 5 minutes. Increase the heat and return the beef to the pot along with its juices. Add the wine and cook for two minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
- Reduce the heat to medium to low. Add the beef stock, chilli, oregano, thyme Worcestershire sauce and chopped tomatoes. Stir and season to taste. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hour - 1 3/4 Hour. Remove the lid for the last 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened. Lastly stir in the parsley. Check seasoning is to your taste. Serve over mash potatoes/vegetables or have it as it is.
