Chicken Char Siu is one of the most favored of recent trending foods on earth. It is simple, it is fast, it tastes delicious. It is appreciated by millions daily. Chicken Char Siu is something which I have loved my entire life. They are nice and they look fantastic.

The ingredients needed to make Chicken Char Siu:
  1. Prepare 1 kg Chicken thigh fillet / breast
  2. Prepare Marinade
  3. Take 3-4 tbsp maltose/honey
  4. Take 3 cubes red fermented tofu
  5. Prepare 3 tbsp the red fermented tofu liquid
  6. Get 3 tbsp housin sauce
  7. Make ready 3 cloves garlic (roughly chopped)
  8. Get 3 tbsp roughly chopped ginger
  9. Get 3 tbsp chinese rice cooking wine
  10. Take 3 tsp chinese five spices
  11. Take 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  12. Make ready Red food colouring (optional)
  13. Take Glaze
  14. Get 3 tbsp honey
  15. Take Left over marinade
Instructions to make Chicken Char Siu:
  1. Marination - Clean chicken. Combine ingredients for marination in a big bowl. Stir to mix. Use this to Marinate chicken fillets for 24hours. Refrigerate.
  2. For the glaze - Remove chicken from the marinate & let sit for an hour in room temperature. Add the marinate to a small pot & remove the garlic & ginger. Add honey & mix well. Cook on low heat for 5mins or until the sauce start to boil. Set aside for glazing.
  3. Set up chicken on the tray that comes with a roasting rack. Preheat oven to 400 F /200 C.
  4. Bake chicken for 20mins. Flip. Bake for another 20mins. For the next 20mins, flip & glaze chicken every 3-5mins until all the glaze is brushed on. Char siu gets charred lightly.
  5. Once done, let it rest for 10-15mins. Slice & serve or Refrigerate for other uses like bao / buns filling, siu pau etc.
