  5. Return the pureed soup to the Dutch oven. Add the reserved onions uncooked asparagus. Add salt and pepper. Bring back to a simmer and add the whipping cream and heat thoroughly. Serve!

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. In a large saucepan, saute the leeks in butter. Add broth, asparagus, potatoes and pepper. Remove asparagus tips and set aside. Place half of the soup at a time in a blender container.
