  1. Clean the chicken and keep it aside.
  2. . Using a motor and pistil or a grinder, grind all the spice mix coarsely and keep aside.
  3. . In a heavy bottom pan, heat some oil and saute the onions and ginger till soft.
  4. . To this, add in the coriander powder, turmeric powder,pepper powder, and the spice mix and mix well.
  5. . Once the powders are toasted, add in the tomato puree and bring it boil.
  6. . Then add the chicken and mix well till all the pieces are coated well. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 15-20 mins.
  7. . After 20 mins, add in chopped garlic, brown sugar and lemon juice and mix well. Add salt at this stage and mix well.
  8. . Cover and let it cook for another 15 minutes or till the meat is tender.
