  1. Wash both the lentils and soak for half an hour. Now wash them again and pressure cook for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Side by side we will prepare the tempering too. Take oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds, let them crackle. Now add the whole red chillies, chopped onions and ginger garlic paste. Saute it for sometime.
  3. Once the onions turns slight golden pink. Add salt, turmeric, chilli powder, heeng and coriander powder. Give them all a nice mix.
  4. Now add the chopped tomatoes. And let it cook till the oil separates.
  5. Add this prepared tempering to the cooked dal and add the garam masala now. Serve hot with boiled rice. Enjoy!
